Where to Stay in Chopta
The brief
Where to stay in Chopta, Uttarakhand: MyTripMyTravel curates accommodation across distinct tiers. Alpine camp tier: Comfortable seasonal tented camps on the Chopta and Deoria Tal meadows with meals and campfires, the classic high-country stay. Mountain-lodge tier: Simple wooden lodges and huts at the Chopta roadhead and nearby Sari and Ukhimath, basic but well placed for the trek. Comfort base tier: More equipped hotels lower down around Ukhimath or Sari for guests who prefer solid comfort and day-trek the meadows.
We do not simply book a room; we place you in the right property for the kind of mission you are running. These are the Chopta stay tiers we operate, what each is for, and how we choose between them.

Matching tier to the mission
The right Chopta tier is a function of the trip, not a price ladder. A short heritage leg, a slow-luxury stay, a celebration, or a recovery-paced visit each point to a different property, and the April to June, September to November season affects availability of the best of them, which is why a recommended stay of 2 nights is pre-secured well ahead in peak months.
How we place you
Placement is handled by the planning desk against your party, pace, and the rest of the North India itinerary, so the Chopta stay sits coherently within the wider mission rather than as an isolated booking. Room blocks, suite categories, and arrival logistics are managed end to end.
Architecting Where to Stay with MyTripMyTravel
Chopta is operated as part of the wider North India, not in isolation. Whatever the where to stay decision, it is sequenced into a private, chauffeured, escorted itinerary, recommended stay 2 nights, with monument access, pacing, and contingency handled end to end. It connects naturally to All curated tours, Elite chauffeured fleet, North India destinations, so this leg is one part of a coherent mission rather than a standalone booking. Every choice here is a starting architecture, refined to your party during planning.

Where to Stay questions
How hard is the trek to Tungnath and Chandrashila?
The Tungnath climb is about 3.5 km of steady, steep uphill from Chopta at altitude, manageable for reasonably fit walkers; the further push to Chandrashila at about 4,000 m is short but sharp. Both need fitness, acclimatisation, and warm layers, and we stage a guide for the ascent.
Is the Tungnath temple open all year?
No. The temple usually closes for winter, when heavy snow makes it inaccessible and the deity is moved down to Makkumath, reopening around spring. We plan the visit around the temple's seasonal calendar and the trail conditions.
Can I visit Chopta in winter?
Yes, and the snow-covered meadows are stunning and popular for snow trekking, but conditions are serious, the temple is generally closed, the trail is ice and snow, and proper gear and a guide are essential. We advise on feasibility for your dates.
How does MyTripMyTravel handle where to stay for Chopta?
Chopta where to stay is planned as part of a single private, chauffeured, escorted mission across the North India, with a recommended stay of 2 nights. It is not a standalone booking, it is sequenced with monument access, pacing, and contingency, and refined to your party during planning.
