Timing changes everything in Lansdowne. Lansdowne is a year-round retreat thanks to its moderate altitude, but the finest months run from October to April. Post-monsoon autumn brings washed-clean air and the best chance of distant Himalayan snow views from Tip-in-Top; winter is cold and crisp with occasional light snow, atmospheric among the pines. Spring is mild and green. April to June is a pleasant warm-weather escape from the plains, cooler than Delhi though busier on weekends. The monsoon from July to September is lush and quiet but wet, with mist that hides the views and the odd landslide on the approach roads, so we plan around the rain for clear-weather visits.

For May specifically: Strictly dawn-only sightseeing; midday rest in cooled stays. The standard Lansdowne architecture (a quiet garhwali cantonment in the pine) is preserved; the day-pacing is rebuilt around this month's conditions.
