RISHIKESHThe Yoga Capital on the Ganga
The Brief
Rishikesh is a city in the Dehradun district of Uttarakhand, India, in the Himalayan foothills where the Ganga river leaves the mountains. It is internationally known as the 'Yoga Capital of the World', famed for its ashrams, the evening Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat and Parmarth Niketan, the Lakshman Jhula and Ram Jhula suspension bridges, and white-water rafting. Rishikesh is the spiritual-and-wellness gateway of the western Himalaya. MyTripMyTravel operates Rishikesh as a wellness, yoga, and river leg with riverside luxury retreats and curated practitioner access.
Rishikesh is where the Himalaya becomes spiritual rather than alpine — the foothill city where the Ganga arrives from the mountains and an entire global wellness culture has grown up around it.
The riverfront defines it: the Ganga Aarti at dusk, the iconic Lakshman and Ram Jhula bridges, and a dense belt of ashrams that made Rishikesh the world's yoga capital. Above the spiritual register sits an adventure one — the Ganga here is India's premier white-water rafting river.
MyTripMyTravel runs Rishikesh as a wellness-and-river leg: riverside luxury retreats, curated private yoga and Ayurveda with vetted practitioners, an escorted Aarti vantage, and rafting arranged with safety-vetted operators.

When to Deploy
September – April
September to November and February to April are ideal — mild weather, a flowing river, and the prime rafting window (rafting typically runs roughly September to June, paused at monsoon peak). The International Yoga Festival is in March. Summer (May–June) is warm but viable for wellness; the monsoon (July–August) swells the Ganga and suspends rafting. Autumn and spring are optimal.
